HEARTLAND HOME INSPECTION is locally owned and operated by Carey Hofer, LHI. Carey is an experienced inspector, licensed in South Dakota with over 8 years experience as a Home Inspector and over 20 years experience in the building materials industry. 

Carey graduated from, and is certified by, the Home Inspection Institute of Cincinnati, OH, and is the Institute’s Regional Advisor.  Carey is a member of FREA (Foundation of Real Estate Appraisers).  He also authors the Ask the Inspector column in the Sioux Falls Argus Leader Real Estate Weekly.  

In addition to his extensive training and experience in home inspection, Carey has additional training and certification by NEHA/EPA in radon gas testing and follows their specific protocols, using state of the art electronic monitoring, for radon gas detection. 

Carey has also received certification through HUD for Visual Assessment for Deteriorated Paint, an inspection required for some types of loans.
